The Imagine Story
"We Can Do Better!"
This thought kept rattling around my head throughout 2008. I had been in private practice for almost 10 years at that time. Dentistry had come a long way over that period. We had access to fantastic new technologies, our materials were better than ever, and we could perform services at a level that patients deserved. However, the system was holding back, and I say "system," I'm referring to the insurance industry. With each year that passed, we saw fewer and fewer procedures being covered by the plans and it was frustrating. I was being forced to cut down an entire tooth vs. performing minimally invasive care simply because the insurance companies wouldn't cover it. This concept was ludicrous to me because the modus operandi that I had lived by while in dental school – conserve the tooth – was being thrown out the window by a bunch of pencil pushers who were only concerned about adding to their bottom line so that their shareholders were happy. This, to me, is fundamentally wrong and I knew things had to change.
The whole Imagine Smiles concept was born from the idea that we, as a dental profession, can do better. So I set out to design an office where patients could come to enjoy the best that modern dentistry had to offer. I wanted an office with the latest in technology and the best dental materials...I wanted to offer services that didn't require patients to bounce between doctors in order to accomplish the treatment goal...and I wanted to do it all in an environment that was a complete shift away from the sterile, foul-smelling managed care facilities that are out there today. The result of those desires what you will see today.
At Imagine, our goal is to provide you with the safest, most advanced level of dental care available today. We are also an environmentally safe office. We do not (and will not) use mercury-based filling materials, and we use specific protocols whenever old mercury fillings are removed. We also utilize materials and techniques that consider the entire body in the equation. Many people consider us to be holistic, but I'm not a big fan of that term. I would prefer to call Imagine a biologic dental office because we use materials and procedures that have been proven to be safe and effective and there is science that backs up those claims.
Dentistry, as a profession, will always be changing. Advances will constantly come our way in the form of new materials, procedures, and protocols. Our job is to filter the good products from the bad and provide our patients with individualized care so that they can enjoy a smile that will last a lifetime. We welcome you to join us to imagine those possibilities!
